We had an extremely vocal and busy council meeting last night which certainly highlighted concerns over the large volume of heavy-duty lorry traffic on our narrow roads.

A subgroup has been formed to look at this frankly dangerous issue which is as we all agreed last night “an accident waiting to happen”. Martin Bone has kindly volunteered to be the lead on this, with FULL support from CCC and our elected councillors. We will shortly be starting a vehicle survey as well as asking YOU for your thoughts.

This is undoubtedly a very serious issue which impacts us all. We can not wait until there is a serious accident and it is up to City of Edinburgh Council to put safeguards in place NOW.

There has been a spate of shed break-ins with bikes and tools being stolen so make sure you lock up!

Bus routes are up for tender and it is hoped we do get a better service, especially a direct route to St John’s but it’s down to the bus company. We will continue to fight for this, as do our councillors!

On a lighter note we are considering holding our Annual Meet Santa Fair at the community centre but given the poor numbers last year we are not 100% sure it’s wanted!

Can you let us know please, it takes quite a lot of effort to put this event on and as volunteers we do have limited resource.

Lastly, it is apparent to most of us that C.E.C. has extremely serious issues with the budget. Severe ruthless cuts across every sector including Health and Wellbeing, Roads and any sort of maintenance certainly impact our three villages in a disproportionate and frankly unfair manner.

With even more savage budget cuts on the horizon, we need your support, even more, to ensure we get a fairer deal. Whilst your community council is extremely vocal on your behalf we can only do so much so don’t forget to report bad roads potholes pavements overgrown bushes bad parking bad driving etc etc to Edinburgh Council.

They do take complaints seriously so the more we report the more they will be forced to actually do something. Copy in your elected councillors, Sue Webber/Graham Bruce/Ricky Henderson/Neil Gardiner/Gordon MacDonald/Gordon Lindhurst. Action begets Action!
