16/05217/PPP Riccarton Mains Village proposal.
The date for submitting comments on the above application for development planning in principle has passed. THANK YOU to the 59 people who submitted comments!
We will provide an update as soon as we hear any news.
Although the number of people who commented is greater than the average response, it is still very low considering the number of residents within our local area. We are very keen to increase the number of responses regarding local community issues. We are aware that there are many members of our community who will not/do not use social media, or are not looking at the group pages we are posting on. If you have any suggestions of what groups we can circulate information on, or how we reach those that are not users of social media or the internet we would welcome your input.

Riccarton Mains Village, Deadline for Comments by 11th Jan 2017 Ref No 16/05217/PPP
H&H Group have submitted a planning application for 214 houses and flats plus 2-4 storey blocks for 250 students on 11.75hs of land either side of Riccarton Main Road, south of the Heriot-Watt roundabout. This land is prime quality agriculture land. The over head power lines will be moved underground. The proposal indicates up to 20 people could be employed in a community hub and retail unit/GP surgery.
The applicant has provided a breakdown of the 2,3 and 4 bedroom accommodation to be built. Our estimate given these proposal equates to circa 800 persons. Date provided within the application suggests that 9.000 vehicles per day pass on the site, 4100 use Calder Road and 21,700 use Lanark Road West. Their estimated traffic movements for on-site vehicles using the three accesses conclude there could be about 760 more vehicle movements on the Riccarton Mains Road.
