A big thanks to the huge number of members of the public who came to support Currie Community Council and Archie Clark on Thursday 13th October 2016 at the DPEA Kinleith Mill hearing at the Gibson Craig hall. It was clear that the DPEA, Edinburgh Council and Cala representatives were not expecting such a large turnout and perhaps did not fully appreciate the strength of local feeling to retain the Water of Leith riverside footpath. There were so many questions at the hearing that proceedings overran and the site visit was deferred until this ??? at 4pm!

The popular riverside path and right of way is now expected to be removed unless the DPEA report / Scottish Government insist that the riverside path should be retained. Currie Community Council hope that common sense can prevail so that the path can be retained but we will now have to wait for the DPEA report to be produced and presented to the Scottish Government for a decision.

This is not over yet but thanks again to all those who attended or left messages of support WELL DONE It certainly gave the Reporter a lot to think about and remember together we are stronger. Updates to follow.
